"Extra Hours"
Taken on 35mm film in San Jose de Cabo, Mexico - 2021.
Printed on fine art paper at State Film Lab in Louisville, Kentucky.

This was on the morning we were flying back to San Diego and I managed to grab the car for a solo drive for a couple of early morning hours. Driving around the streets of Old Town was pretty surreal. And I practically had a private tour with being the only one on the road at that time. I waited outside of a small streetside cafe until they friendly opened their doors to the world for the day. Again, it was just me. I made new friends with the baristas and cooks in the cafe, they helped me with my novice Spanish speaking and I enjoyed their colorful patio outside until it was time to get back to the hotel.
This photograph reminds me to take advantage of the extra hours in the morning to be up before others, to see colors and hear sounds that only come in the morning, and to embrace the culture of wherever you happen to be.
